Four vying for 2019 KPA Vice President

We’re into the election cycle for KPA, with two Board districts involved in balloting and now there’s an election getting underway for the 2019 KPA Vice President.

The system was changed this year so that instead of the Board recommending one person to members to serve as VP, it’s now a ballot voting system and can be up to four names. That’s the situation in this, the first year under the new format.

Individuals who have or are serving as an elected Board member are eligible to be nominated as well as those who have served three consecutive years as a State At-Large Board member. We want back over the years and identified 20 individuals who qualified. They received a letter inviting their nomination to serve as VP. And four did.

A letter with a proxy ballot will be mailed Monday to the publisher of each full member newspaper. We have set a deadline of Monday, November 19, as the deadline for voting. The person receiving the most votes from the members (limit one vote per member newspaper) will be elected VP and will serve in 2019 in that capacity. That individual will then be in line to climb the ladder to President Elect, President and then Past President.

The four names on the ballot, in alphabetical order, are:

• Dennis Brown, Lewis County Herald

• Sharon Burton, Adair County Community Voice

• Regina Catlett, Sebree News/Sturgis Banner

• Jeff Moreland, Central Kentucky New Journal/Springfield Sun
