Princeton U. offering journalism program to low-income high school juniors; has invited Kentucky applications

I received the email below from Vayne Ong at Princeton University who asked me to pass this along. If you know of eligible high school juniors, please let them know.

I’m emailing on behalf of the Princeton Summer Journalism Program, an all-expenses-paid journalism and college preparation program held at Princeton for high school juniors from low-income backgrounds. Students learn reporting skills from celebrated journalists, report and write their own newspaper, and are paired with a counselor who oversees their college admissions process.

Our program application is now live, and I am working to publicize this opportunity among teachers and educational institutions nationwide. We are hoping to reach a large number of interested students by reaching out to high school journalism organizations such as yours; I’m wondering if you would be willing to send an email out to your members and member teachers with the following information, or otherwise post/advertise information about our program in your newsletter or on your website.

Please let me know; I’d really appreciate your help! I’ve included the necessary information below.

Best,

Vayne Ong
