The Ledger Independent is seeking a full-time, multi-skilled journalist to cover a variety of news in a growing seven-county community.
We’re looking for someone with a passion for journalism and community news who is ready to showcase the Greater Maysville area through their writing. Social media skills are also a plus for this position. Full-time Frankfort-based position manages association’s monthly magazine, the Kentucky School Advocate, which encompasses mapping of editorial content, conducting interviews and research, composing stories, and copy editing. Serves as the primary writer for organizational communications efforts. Assists with creation of content across multiple channels, from print publications to social media/web content. Serves as copy editor for organization’s publications, collateral materials and external communications. Monitors local, state and national news sources for relevant trends and topics in education news. Contributes to team discussion and execution of strategic communications plan.
A minimum of a Bachelors’ degree in journalism, communications or related field. At least three years of professional experience in news/journalism or other communications-based industry.
