3 Boone dailies plus Ashland announce changing frequency

Frequency changes for some Kentucky newspapers are continuing.

This week, the Ashland Daily Independent announced that after its Sunday, April 19 issue, it will no longer publish on Sunday but will have an expanded weekend edition for Saturday/Sunday. It’s also ceasing its Tuesday publication.

And Steve Stewart, publisher of the Frankfort State Journal and other Boone Newspapers in the Bluegrass, announced changes he’s making. Frankfort, the Danville Advocate Messenger and the Winchester Sun are moving from a daily to twice weekly. All three will publish a Tuesday and Friday print editions. Friday’s issue will be an expanded weekend edition. He also announced that the Harlan Enterprise, following a move just less than two years ago from a four-day daily to twice weekly, is now publishing once a week. Its sister publication, the Middlesboro News, was a four-day daily until January when it began publishing only two days a week. Middlesboro will remain a twice weekly publication, according to Stewart.
