The Kentucky Press Association will hold its annual Business Meeting at 11:30 a.m. (Eastern) on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the Hilton Inn Downtown in Lexington. The meeting is part of the 2018 KPA Winter Convention.
Currently, the only matter to be voted upon is the election of the 2018 KPA Vice President. At its 2017 Fall Board Retreat, the Board voted unanimously to recommend Kim Woods, vice president of advertising for the Lexington Herald-Leader, as Vice President for 2018. According to KPA Bylaws, the Board recommends an individual to serve as Vice President and that recommendation is taken to the membership for approval. Members can vote by proxy or by attending the Business Meeting. The deadline for voting by proxy is January 11, 2018.
At the KPA Fall Board Retreat, the board voted to nominate Kim Woods to the membership as Vice President and then elected Larry Hensley, publisher of The Advocate-Messenger in Danville, to serve as Treasurer in 2018. The treasurer position is not voted on by the membership.
Letters were mailed Wednesday to the publisher of each KPA member newspaper and the proxy form included is to be used by those who will not be attending the Business Meeting. Those who will be attending can vote in person and do not have to return the proxy.
The deadline to return the proxy is Thursday, January 11, 2018. The publisher can mark his/her vote for the recommendation on the proxy form and can return it to KPA by mail, email to me or by faxing to 502-226-3867. Instructions for each are specified on the form.
