The resignation earlier this year of Kim Woods from the Herald-Leader and thus her position as Vice President of KPA left another void in the KPA Board structure. We’re missing a chairperson of the KPA Ad Division. So if you’re interested, please let me know.
The Ad Division chairperson is a voting member of the KPA Board, helps us in planning advertising programs for the winter convention (although in 2019 it’ll be known as our 150th Anniversary Gala), and helps with categories and rules for the KPA Advertising Contest. It’s a two-year appointment so the individual will serve through the January, 2020, convention, and subject to another two years if the individual wants to stay on.
Most importantly this and next year is overseeing the Advertising portion of the KPA Focus Plan. Some of the details for it are worked out already but there are still some duties and discussions that have to happen for us to complete the Focus Plan in 2019.
That pretty much sums up the duties of the Ad chairperson, working with other members of the division in recommending programs and speakers, directing the ad portion of the KPA Focus Plan, and keeping the ad contest rules and categories current.
As I said, it is a voting position on the Board and comes with all the other benefits of being on the board — a lunch at the four Board meetings and room and board for the KPA Fall Board Retreat.
