California association looking for its next executive director; Tom Newton announced retirement

Interested in heading up one of the nation’s largest state press associations? Looking for warmer climes and have an urging to live in California?

The California News Publishers Association is looking to replace retiring executive director, Tom Newton. CNPA has the second largest press association board in the country, second only to Kentucky Press Association. CNPA’s is in the neighborhood of 25 Board members.

Here’s the information from CNPA:

California News Publishers Association (CNPA), a 132-year-old, 500-member trade organization, is seeking its next Executive Director.

The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator and also have a strong financial acumen. Expertise in leading the association’s legislative efforts is also a key component of this job.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success as well as at least five years of senior management experience in a media environment or trade association.
