Changes to The Progress greet EKU students as Fall semester begins

From Tricia Fulks Kelley, Eastern Progress Media Network Adviser

The Eastern Progress, Eastern Kentucky University’s independent student newspaper, expanded its operation at the start of the Fall 2019 semester. The Eastern Progress Media Network has added a public relations office where students can work in advertising sales, campus engagement and development and fundraising. The print edition of the Progress comes out weekly and recently changed to a Tuesday publication day.

“We hope the change in release date will incorporate better weekend event and news coverage,” said Tricia Fulks Kelley, student media adviser at EKU. “I also anticipate a more robust online presence as the new student editors acclimate to their positions.”

In addition to the opening of the public relations office, the Progress opened  podcast and video studios adjacent to the publication office in the spring and fall semesters of 2018, respectively.

The print edition of the Progress can be found on newsstands across EKU’s campus each Tuesday of the Fall 2019 semester, with the exception of Oct. 15 and Nov. 26. The last edition of 2019 will be released Tuesday, Dec. 3.
