The Kentucky Kernel advisor Chris Poore will be heading up the Kentucky Intercollegiate Press Association division beginning in January. Division chairs serve two-year terms so Chris will be heading up KIPA for 2018 and 2019. He will also be a member of the KPA Board of Directors, a Bylaw privilege given to all KPA divisions chairs.
Ralph Merkel, who is the adviser for The Cardinal at the University of Louisville, has served as KIPA chair for 2016-2017.
KIPA became a division of KPA in 2016 at the request of the advisors who had spearheaded KIPA since it began. With KIPA under KPA’s umbrella, we now handle convention programs, convention registration and contests for the student publication organization. The contest for student publications is divided with colleges/universities of 10,000 and Under enrollment in one division; those with 10,001 and Above students in a second division.
