Just two weeks! The countdown to the deadline to enter the KPA News and Ad contests continues but looms large with Friday, October 15, nearing. That’s the last day you can submit entries for the contests and for some it appears it might be the deadline to even register to enter.
Only 43 newspapers have registered so far, a far cry from the 70 to 75 we normally have. So for those newspapers not listed below (ones who have registered this morning), get with it!
Looking down the list, if more student publications and daily newspapers don’t register and enter, we’ll have to change both to a one-division setup. That’s because there are only four Kentucky Intercollegiate Press Association members registered as student publications and just dailies. Typically both are set up as two divisions with the major number of 10,000 — KIPA’s setup is enrollment up to 10,000 and 10,001 and above, while dailies are set up with paid circulation up to 10,000 and then 10,001 and above.
As of this morning, the following had registered:
Greenup Gazette • Springfield Sun • Lebanon Enterprise • Elizabethtown News Enterprise • LaRue County Herald News • Ohio County Times-News • Greater Ashland Beacon • Swift Creek Courier • Central Kentucky News Journal • The Bridge/Somerset Community Technical College • Manchester Enterprise • Central City Leader News • Bowling Green Daily News • Berea Citizen • Corbin News Journal • Ashland Daily Independent • Bourbon County Citizen • Paducah Sun • Richmond Register • The Mountain Advocate • Oldham Era • Somerset Commonwealth Journal • Murray State News • Kentucky Kernel • Casey County News • Butler County Banner • Edmonton Herald-News • Frankfort State Journal • Woodford Sun • College Heights Herald • Carter County Times • Meade County Messenger • Corbin Times Tribune • London Sentinel Echo • Falmouth Outlook • Crittenden County Press • Cumberland County News • Russell Springs Times Journal • Harlan Enterprise • Louisville Courier-Journal • Adair County Community Voice • Shelbyville Sentinel News • Georgetown News-Graphic •
If your newspaper isn’t listed, you aren’t yet registered for the contest. And that’s the first step in entering the contests.
Here’s access to the registration materials and a little more information:
When you do access www.newspapercontest.com/kentucky, first, READ the basic instructions and please read closely the very first line. It gives you the “Association Code” that you must enter when registering.
