We’re six weeks away from the 2018 KPA Winter Convention, scheduled for January 25-26 at the Hilton Inn in Downtown Lexington. The January 26 sessions have been tweaked since last Friday and it’s worth a visit to see what all’s there.
We’ve added the titles of the three technology sessions Lisa Griffin will be doing.
We also also added a session on Trauma Journalism. Covering such events is not only difficult, there can be emotional effects on the reporter. Whether the event is a mass shooting or a natural disaster, it is important to help journalists on how to properly cover and cope with such events.
You can check out the program by going to http://www.kypress.com and clicking on the link to the convention at the top of KPA’s main webpage.
And remember to make your room reservations while you are there. There is a link for “Room Reservations.” The deadline to reserve a room is January 9, 2018.
We hope to have all the session times nailed down within the next few days but in the interim, we suggest you start lining up staff that will be attending. One or two won’t be able to handle the workload if you want to get the most of the 2018 KPA Winter Convention.
And for those who are thinking of asking: We are working on compiling the list of winners in both the KPA Ad and KPA News contests. So just hold on. We’ll be back with you in a few days with a list of those who won First Place, or who won a Second or Third Place. If you haven’t been through our notification process, we only list winners and not by specific categories they won or how many awards they won. A Second or Third Place version, means the individual only won a Second or Third Place, and not a First Place. Those winning “at least one First Place” listing, means the individual could have won more than one First and also any number of Second or Third Place awards.
Gotta keep some drama in the process leading up to the banquets. We’ll announce the KPA Ad Contest awards on Thursday, January 25 and the KPA News Contest awards on Friday January 26. Both will be at banquets, with a reception at 6 p.m. (Eastern), and the banquet beginning at 7 p.m.
