The nomination process for a KPA Vice President is open and you’re invited to nominate one of the eligible candidates with the new process that was adopted earlier this year by the KPA Board of Directors. Eligible candidates are listed at the bottom.
Under the new process, adopted in January by the board, we are using this method to notify members of the process and to open nominations for the 2019 KPA Vice President.
The eligibility requirements remain unchanged from the past. To be eligible, an individual must have served or be serving as an elected member of the KPA Board of Directors or must have served three consecutive years as a State At-Large Board member. The individual must be currently employed as a full-time staff member of a KPA member newspaper.
Deadline for nominations is Thursday, October 18.
Based on the criteria and the new process, you may nominate one individual from the list below by emailing the Executive Director at dthompson@kypress.com. These are the individuals we have determined to be qualified under the Bylaws requirements.
Please put in the SUBJECT line — KPA VP Nomination. All nominations will be given to the Nominating Committee prior to the October Fall Board Retreat, October 25-26. The committee will then present the names of at least two of those persons but no more than three names, to the full Board. Once the Board approves the list of nominees, the names of those nominated by the Board will be submitted to all KPA member newspapers and invited to vote for Vice President. One vote per newspaper is allowed. The nomination announcement will be emailed to all publishers after Friday, October 26.
We believe the list below to be accurate and represents all individuals who meet the qualifications to be a KPA Vice President. The individuals listed are or have either been an elected member of the KPA Board of Directors or have served three consecutive years as a State At-Large Board member. Names are in alphabetical order by the first name. You may nominate ONE individual below. To make the nomination, email dthompson@kypress.com, in the SUBJECT line put KPA VP Nomination and put the name of the individual in the text of the email.
The new policy also states that any person who has served as KPA President is not eligible to serve again even if technically eligible to be nominated.
