A current State At-Large Board member and a KPA Past President have been nominated for the vacant District 1 KPA/KPS Board of Directors seat.
As announced last week, District 1 Board member Barbara Atwill has resigned from the board, necessitating a special election to complete her term. The person elected by District 1 members will serve through the January 2021 KPA Convention.
Carrie Dillard, editor of the Paducah Sun, has served the last two years as a State At-Large board member. She was selected for that position by 2018 KPA President Peter Baniak and then re-appointed for 2019 by KPA President Jay Nolan. She has been chairing a committee looking at future convention sites, and programming alternatives
Loyd Ford, publisher of The Lake News in Calvert City, has served previously as an elected Board member for the district, before he was elected Vice President by the membership in 2014. That put him on the ladder to the presidency. He served 2016 as President of KPA.
The deadline for nominations is close of business today — August 23. A ballot with the names of those nominated will be sent to full members in the district early next week. The publisher/general manager of each member newspaper in District 1 will receive the ballot.
