Publishers of some 85 KPA member newspapers eligible for a 2020 summer intern through the Kentucky Journalism Foundation have received information about beginning the application process.
For newspapers, only those participating in the Kentucky Statewide Classified Program are eligible to receive an intern. The deadline for the Host Newspaper application is January 3. The KPA Past Presidents will then review the applications and the frequency a newspaper has had an intern and then select 15 Host Newspapers.
KPA/KJF will be awarding 15 internships for the 10-week summer program, each worth $4,000 to students. Students who graduated from a Kentucky high school or are attending a Kentucky college/university are eligible to apply.
Students, meanwhile, have until Friday, February 28, to apply. All student applications are shared with the 15 Host Newspapers who then interview at least two students before selecting one to be its student intern. Internships normally begin soon after the end of the Spring semester and continue for 10 weeks through the summer.
