The Grayson County News-Gazette is changing.
Beginning the first full week of November, the News-Gazette will be an expanded Saturday-only publication. The new format will allow for expanded coverage of local sports, as well as continued coverage of local news.
“The News-Gazette has been published for over 100 years, and this new format will enable us to continue publishing well in the future,” said Mike Weafer, group publisher of the Kentucky/Indiana Paxton Media Group papers. Mike is publisher of the Messenger-Inquirer in Owensboro.
The expanded Saturday/Weekend edition will serve the readers and community best and include coverage of popular high school football and other sports along with the regularly quality coverage of local events and news. And the weekend timing will be great for advertisers, Weafer noted.
“We believe newspapers are an integral part of any community,” said Weafer. “And this change is designed to enable the New-Gazette to better serve its readers in Leitchfield and surrounding areas.”
The News-Gazette’s roots date to the late 1800, when it became the second newspaper published in Grayson County.
