It was 148 years ago today that a group of publishers met in Frankfort. The reason for the meeting was to set up an organization that would soon be known as a “society” to help them in their quest to run newspapers.
From that meeting was born the Kentucky Press Association. It was Wednesday, January 13, 1869, so today we celebrate KPA’s 148th anniversary.
In two years we will be celebrating the sesquicentennial and if you have ideas of way KPA can celebrate, then please share those with me. Peter Baniak will be the outgoing president at 2019 Convention and Jay Nolan will be the incoming president and will be working toward a celebration at that convention.
