Categories are the same as 2017
Well, school has started and football season is upon us and that must mean it’s time for you to get ready for the 2018 KPA News and Advertising Contests. It’s mid-August and we’re all set to go. But you can’t go anywhere without first getting registered.
Editors, for the News Contest, and Ad Managers, for the Ad Contest, take note. Registration is required before you do anything so take about 120 seconds and do so.
The entry period is the same for both — all issues published between October 1, 2017, and September 30, 2018.
The deadline to enter is the same — October 19, 2018. This is not a recording — The deadline to enter is the same — October 19, 2018. That’s a Friday so we’ll not be able to extend the deadline this year.
The circulation divisions are the same for both contests so check out the circulation breaks below. There are changes from previous contests only in the Daily Division, Class 1, 2 and 3.
You can’t do anything without registering and since it only takes a minute, well, take that minute and get it done now. Go to http://newspapercontest.com/Contests/KentuckyPressAssociation.aspx to get registered. Please note. You will be asked to
enter the ASSOCIATION CODE. It’s simply KYCONTEST and that’s case sensitive.
Read through the categories for the contest you’ll be entering, share the categories with staff and start searching the files for what you want to enter. Also read the attached 2018 CONTEST basic instructions.pdf.
The deadline to enter is October 19. Put another way the absolute deadline to enter is October 19. We’re giving you two and a half months to get your contest entries read and that is more than sufficient.
The categories are the same but again there have been adjustments in the Daily circulation divisions. The system automatically generates the divisions for Weeklies and Dailies based on the 2017 Statements of Ownership.
When you register — and you want to go ahead and do that the now — it will show what division your newspaper is entered in. If that appears to be wrong, let me know immediately.
The fee remains $7 per entry but there is no longer a $10 per newspaper fee.
Here are the Circulation Divisions that will be applicable to both contests:
