It wasn’t a surprise since it had been announced a few weeks ago that Kentucky’s own Chip Hutcheson would be receiving the coveted Amos Award from the National Newspaper Association. Still, Chip was humbled by the presentation during last week’s NNA Convention in Tulsa.
NNA uses video to introduce attendees to those receiving the two major awards — the Amos Award and the McKinney Award — and NNA has shared the video recognizing Chip for his storied career in newspapers. If you don’t know Chip very well, and even if you know him very well, this video plays special tribute to the KPA Past President. But being KPA President isn’t the only honor Chip has received. He has served as President of NNA and of the Kentucky Baptist Convention. Chip is one of only a few laymen to have led KBC. Mostly that position goes to pastors. Here’s the video that NNA gathered to introduce Chip as the 2017 Amos Award winner.
This is a link played at the NNA Convention last week to introduce Chip as the Amos Award winner:
In being presented the award last week, Chip was given the microphone to comment on his career, on the award and noted that it takes a village for someone to be honored in this way and he recognized all of those with whom he’s worked over the last 40 years who share this award with him. His wife, Karen, shot this video as Chip spoke and has also displayed it on her Facebook Page.
So thankful for a godly husband who shares his love for Christ wherever he goes. Today he received the prestigious Amos award at the National Newspaper convention in Tulsa. I'm sharing his acceptance speech which is also his testimony.
