We’re just about ready to start pleading and begging for you to upload your entries for the 2020 Kentucky Press Association News Contest and Advertising Contest.
But not quite yet!
We are still working on a process that will allow newspapers to submit their entries as a URL instead of having to submit a pdf for each individual entry. As soon as we finalize that, if we can, we’ll let you know and give you those instructions. But wait for those instructions
CONTESTS PERIOD — the contests period is for all issues published between October 1, 2019, and September 30, 2020.
DEADLINE — the deadline to have all entries submitted is midnight, Friday, October 16, 2020.
Right now, though, go ahead and log onto http://www.newspapercontest.com/kentucky and Register. Then read over the Contest Rules, the News Contest Categories and the Advertising Contest Categories and start searching past issues for what you want to enter this year.
Little if anything has changed in the Rules and the Categories for 2020. Thanks to Adam Yeomans and the Associated Press, we again have the Jon Fleischaker Freedom of Information Award as Category 27 for weeklies, for dailies and for student publications. One award will be given in each division.
And this year, we’ve added the Journalist of the Year. NO entries are required. It will be based on a point system and the individual in the weekly divisions, daily divisions and student publications divisions getting the highest number of points will be named Journalist of the Year for that division. An individual will be eligible for points for only one newspaper. Some reporters do work for more than one newspaper but points will be counted for only one newspaper for those individuals.
