It’s Convention Time in the Bluegrass

This time next week I hope we’ll all be gathered at the Marriott East in Louisville for the 2017 version of the Kentucky Press Association Convention.

And unlike last year, there should be no threat of a blizzard or ice and perhaps not even really cold weather. In fact, it’ll be just the opposite of 2016 when we canceled the Thursday night Ad Awards Banquet and all of Friday’s agenda.

This year, it looks like four straight days of temperatures in the 60s beginning on Thursday.

Below is an updated version of the KPA Convention and I point out a couple of the changes. Steve Learn was scheduled to do a couple of circulation department programs but because of surgery is unable to make the trip. Additionally, Dr. Penny Abernathy, the scheduled Friday lunch speaker, has postponed her speech to the 2018 Convention.

I’ve also included the Kentucky Intercollegiate Press Association programming for Friday afternoon.

We understand some of you are not familiar with the online registration process for the convention itself so here’s a form you can print out, fill out and then fax to KPA — 502-226-3867. But hurry!! The registration deadline was actually yesterday but we will accept late registrations until the close of business today (Friday, January 13).

And you have until the close of business today to reserve a seat at the 2016 KPA Ad Awards Banquet (on Thursday, January 19) or KPA News Awards Banquet (on Friday, January 20). Again, hurry because the last day to reserve a seat (or a table if you’re bringing 10 people) is close of business today!

  1. David — I surwe do not want to miss the sesquicentennial. I’m not receicing much email from KPA lately. Can I be restored to the mailing list? Even though I’m far away, I’m still interested in KPA news. — Jo-Ann
