Kentucky Monthly magazine has joined the Kentucky Press Association as an Associate Member Newspaper.
The publication, with its main office located directly across the street from KPA, is published 10 times each year with combined issues in June/July and December/January.
It was the brainchild of Steve and Kay Vest and Michael Embry, who retired in 2005. Steve is the publisher and editor and Kay is the associate publisher and business manager. Other staff members include Patricia Ranft, executive editor; Deborah Kohl Kremer, assistant editor and editor of Kentucky Explorer; and Rebecca Lynn Redding, creative director.
Steve began his career with the McLean County News and then was editor of the Recorder Newspapers in Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties. He’s also worked for the Shelbyville IN News, Frankfort State Journal, The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, SC., and The Herald in Rock Hill, SC. Prior to launching Kentucky Monthly in July 1998 he was news editor at The Blood-Horse in Lexington.
Kentucky Monthly is primarily a subscription-based publication reaching 30,000 homes with a statewide newsstand distribution at a number of retail outlets.
