It was one of those feel-good reports to give to the Board during its retreat last week. Joined by Kim Woods, chair of the KPA Ad Division, and Benjy Hamm, chair of the KPA News Editorial Division, we told the Board that the total entry fees for the 2016 contests versions were the highest since 2008. $32,291 in fees to be exact.
That came from 3,391 entries for the KPA News contest and 1,222 entries in the Ad Contest.
We’re in the process now of getting all of the entries formatted for judging by members of the Georgia Press Association. Twenty-four have signed up to judge the Ad Contest; 52 have volunteered to judge the KPA News Contest.
Results for the Ad Contest will be announced Thursday, January 19, at the 2017 KPA Winter Convention with the News Contest winners presented the following night. Both take place at the Marriott East in Louisville, just off Hurstbourne Lane. Receptions will be at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 and the awards announced immediately following both banquets.
