Less than one-third of our papers have turned in the 2021 Rate Information Forms

We’re ready to put together the 2021 Kentucky Press Association Directory.

We need to prepare the membership dues invoices for 2021.

We’re ready to start quoting advertising placement to Kentucky ad agencies and businesses for 2021.

We have list serves for publishers, editors, ad managers, the Board and other newspaper employees but we can’t keep it current if we don’t know who they are.

We do send some letters by First Class only to have the envelope returned because that newspaper isn’t at that address anymore.

Get the gist? We can’t do everything we’re supposed to do, want to do, try to do if we don’t have information about our member newspapers.

Back in September, we asked newspapers to fill out a pretty simple form and then email to us. We gave a deadline of November 13. That was two months for newspapers to fill out the form. We sent a reminder. And another. And another.

The deadline came, Friday, November 13, and less than one-third of our papers took the time to fill out the form. Fifty have done so. Some 120 have not.

Deadlines are what newspapers live by; if an advertiser comes in the door 5 minutes late, it’s “Sorry it’s after our deadline.” We have to have deadlines to. But at least we’ll extend them. In this case, Monday, November 30 is the absolute deadline. Miss it and we’ll be forced to use information from last year’s form that’s published in the 2020 directory.
