Miles Layton has been named editor of Bluegrass Newsmedia’s Winchester Sun. Layton joined the Sun Nov. 8, and in addition to overseeing the local newspaper, he also serves as editor of The Jessamine Journal in Nicholasville.
“We are pleased to welcome Miles Layton to Bluegrass Newsmedia, and look forward to his service with The Winchester Sun and Jessamine Journal,” said Jeff Moreland, regional editor of Bluegrass Newsmedia.
Prior to joining Bluegrass Newsmedia, Layton worked for newspapers large and small during his career as a reporter and editor. After graduating from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, he earned a graduate degree in media management from West Virginia University’s Reed College of Media. Layton has worked for several newspapers, including the Tyler Star News in Sistersville, West Virginia, the Intelligencer in Wheeling, West Virginia, the Herald-Standard in Uniontown, Pennsylvania; Perquimans Weekly in Hertford, North Carolina, and the Chowan Herald in Edenton, North Carolina.
Layton has won press association awards in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. “I’m excited to have Miles join Bluegrass Newsmedia and work directly with the Winchester Sun and Jessamine Journal,” said Kevin Smith, regional publisher and president for Bluegrass Newsmedia.
