Morehead News changing to once weekly

The Morehead News will change its publication days from Tuesday and Friday to once a week on Wednesdays, effective June 6, the newspaper has announced.

Publisher Eddie Blakeley said the change is being made for economic reasons, but publishing weekly will not reduce the paper’s commitment to covering the local news of Morehead and Rowan County.

He said the news and advertising content now in two editions of the paper will be delivered in the Wednesday edition, and that breaking news will continue to be posted daily to The Morehead News website (www.themoreheadnews.com).

The office hours of The Morehead News will not change, said Blakeley.

“The staff will put its energy and resources into publishing a robust Wednesday paper containing local content readers of The Morehead News have come to rely on,” he said. “News that can’t wait for weekly distribution will be told promptly on the paper’s website in line with the transition all newspapers are undergoing as digital delivery of news expands.”

Combined with its sister weekly publications, the Grayson Journal-Enquirer and Olive Hill Times in Carter County, the newspaper reaches more than 35,000 readers weekly in print and online.

The Morehead News and its predecessor publications have been reporting the news of Rowan County since 1883.
