Peter Baniak, editor and vice president of the Lexington Herald-Leader, was installed as president of the Kentucky Press Association for 2018. Baniak accepted the gavel from 2017 President Ryan Craig, publisher of the Todd County Standard in Elkton. Craig will serve as 2018 past president.
Other officers for 2018 include Jay Nolan, The Mountain Advocate, Barbourville, president-elect; Kim Woods, H-L Media/Lexington Herald-Leader, vice president; and Larry Hensley, The Advocate Messenger, Danville, treasurer.
New 2018 Board members include Eddie Blakeley, The Daily Independent, Ashland; Carrie Dillard, The Paducah Sun; Jane Ashley Pace, Oldham Era/Henry County Local; Josh Givens, Central City Leader News, all serving as State At-Large Board members. Chuck Clark, College Heights Herald, Western Kentucky University, will serve 2018-19 as a Journalism Education Representative and Chris Poore, The Kentucky Kernel, University of Kentucky, will be the Kentucky Intercollegiate Press Association chair for 2018-19.
