Progress editor who challenged Eastern Trustees proves faith News Journal has in her

Jennifer Perkins

Trent Knuckles was excited to hear about the work of Jennifer Perkins, the Eastern Progress editor who refused to back down from the Eastern Kentucky University Board of Trustees and pursue an Attorney General’s Decision that she is right.

If you read last week’s On Second Thought, or any of a host of newspapers reporting the story, you know Jennifer won out. The AG ruled in The Progress’ favor that the Trustees did in fact violate the Open Meetings law.

So why does that excite Knuckles? Because this summer, Jennifer will be a KPA supplied intern at the Corbin News Journal. He knew when he first talked with her, she was the intern he wanted.

“It was abundantly evident after I interviewed her that she was a STRONG candidate and has a real interest print journalism. Very organized and thorough during her interview. We are excited about her joining our staff this month.”

She’ll begin her 10-week internship on May 21.
