Here’s an email message that greeted me early Thursday morning:
As the hotel’s contact for the 2017 KPA (Winter) Convention, the Marriott just wanted to remind me that come January 5 there may be no more rooms in the inn. That’s the cutoff for the January 19-21 convention in Louisville.
So I pass along this reminder to you. If you have NOT made reservations for yourself and your staff, you have until January 5 to do so. After that date, the Marriott can charge its full room rate (ours right now is $106 per night) and whatever rooms we have not had reserved can be released to the general public.
I remind you that two years ago, several did not take the Marriott seriously so they ended up at other motels along I-64 in Louisville. They never thought the Marriott would charge the full room rate and release rooms to the general public.
So stop right now, get your list together for room reservations and the nights needed and click on this online passkey to the Marriott reserve a room https://aws.passkey.com/event/16308326/owner/2768/home. Now while the hotel site says January 17 – 21, the convention will be January 19-20 for KPA and KIPA; January 20-21 for the Kentucky News Photographers Association. We reserve rooms pre-convention in case a speaker needs to come in early, thus the reference to January 17.
Also go NOW to http://www.kypress.com/convention and check out the updated program for KPA functions (under The Program) and then go to Registration and get all your staff members registered for the convention.
