Will Herald-Leader building be the new city hall or not?

Preliminary council vote ended in 6-6 tie with Mayor breaking the deadlock to approve the proposal; but will it hold on final action?

A work session of the Lexington Fayette County Urban County Council to consider the proposal of relocating city hall to the Lexington Herald-Leader building resulted in a 6-6 vote but it won preliminary approval when Mayor Jim Gray cast an “aye” vote in support.

That’s far from final action, however, since the resolution to do so now moves to the full council on August 30. A final reading is scheduled for September 13.
