You’ll get more than a technical foul if you use these terms with the NCAAs and High School tournaments on the horizon

It’s almost time to start filling out your March Madness brackets. It’s also a time to be conscious of what words are trademarked by the NCAA.

Here is a list of some protected words to avoid in your print and digital ad campaigns:

– Elite 8®/Elite Eight®
– Final 4®/Final Four®
– March Madness®
– NCAA Sweet 16®/NCAA Sweet Sixteen®

As for the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, the logo is trademarked, of course, but the only phrase KHSAA says it has trademarked is “Sweet Sixteen.”

Do not allow any of your advertisers to use the NCAA or KHSAA trademarked phrases in advertising.
